Update: The Logan County Justice Center is expected to reopen this afternoon following a suspected bomb threat.
A bailiff who was opening up the building this morning noticed what appeared to be an explosive device strapped to the rear door of the justice center.
The Kentucky State Police’s Hazardous Devices Unit determined the device was a hoax.
The threat was reported before the justice center opened for business, and no evacuations were necessary. Some nearby streets were closed as a precaution but have since reopened.
A similar case is being investigated at the courthouse in neighboring Todd County. State Police suspect the incidents are related.

Officials say some public buildings in southwestern Kentucky have been blocked off after suspicious packages were found at a county courthouse and two justice centers.
Police say the packages found Monday in Todd and Logan Counties looked like explosives but were non-hazardous.
Todd County Sheriff Tracy White said the area near the justice center and the courthouse was blocked off as Kentucky State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.
Logan County Judge-Executive Logan Chick said the package there appeared to be three sticks of dynamite taped together.
Police said they think the incidents are connected.
