Owensboro’s mayor says he’s proposing a skateboard ban due to vandalism in city parks. Mayor Ron Payne said skateboards and bikes caused about $4,000 worth of damage this weekend at Riverfront Crossing Plaza, which opened downtown just six months ago. Payne told the Messenger-Inquirer he’s proposing an ordinance to outlaw skateboards in the area and stop bicyclists from jumping in the air to do tricks. His proposal also includes more security downtown including video cameras in strategic locations.
