Poets & Writers ranks MSU Creative Writing MFA in top 20

Murray State University

Poets and Writers magazine has named Murray State University’s master of fine arts in creative writing program among the top 20 in the nation.  Program Director Ann Neelon says the seven year old, low residency program’s ranking is facilitated by great students, alumni, faculty, and administration.  The honor comes as online and distance learning increases in national and global prominence. Poets and Writers is one of the largest nonprofit literary organizations in the U.S. serving poets and writers of fiction and creative nonfiction.  Neelon says M-S-U’s ranking is a gratifying vote of confidence.

Todd Hatton hails from Paducah, Kentucky, where he got into radio under the auspices of the late, great John Stewart of WKYX while a student at Paducah Community College. He also worked at WKMS in the reel-to-reel tape days of the early 1990s before running off first to San Francisco, then Orlando in search of something to do when he grew up. He received his MFA in Creative Writing at Murray State University. He vigorously resists adulthood and watches his wife, Angela Hatton, save the world one plastic bottle at a time.
